July 3rd Diane rode from Silver City NM just past Deming NM. It was beautiful country. She had a record breaking time at 2:20.00
We stopped at a moving sale and met some new friends, Jim and Sherry Dykes. Jim helped us with a few things on the RV. We recorded a funny video of Diane going through the sale items. It will be posted soon.
On July 4, Diane rode the same route and Sherry tracked us. Sherry was waiting along side the hwy to wave, take a photo and wish us a Happy 4th of July.
The evening of July 4th we arrived at some new friends home in Las Cruses NM. We were invited to a July 4th party and met some great people. Our hosts were Monica and Mary. We met Carrie Hamblen, Pres of the Green Chamber of Commerce. Carrie led the charge on having the Organs National Monument designated by Pres Obama. The Organs are a true treasure to the landscape.
Diane has been riding around Las Cruses and El Paso for th last 4 days. Las Cruses is a big Pecan grower and a big Winery area! We had no idea. There is the Pensacola version of the 12th Street Oak Trees on Hwy 28 in Mesilla, NM.
July 6th, Diane was interviewed by the NBC affiliate in El Paso. Ceasar, the videographer did a great job. You can see it under our Press tab and on Facebook. Also on July 6 Diane, Phoenix and I went swimming in the Rio Grande. It was refreshing!
July 7, we were both interviewed by the Las Cruces Sun Newspaper freelance reporter, Beth Waters. Beth did a fantastic job. Phoenix got to play with her 1st set of kids while Beth was taking photos of Diane. The kids just loved Phoenix! Check out the Press tab on this website or our Facebook pg for the article.
July 8, just before a 2 day break from riding, all three of us visited the Rio Grande Winery on Hwy. 28. Nathan, the manager and wine expert was friendly and very helpful with our wine tasting!
A much needed 2 day break was in store July 9 & 10.
Diane will hit the rode peddling again on Monday, July 11th for Cerebral Palsy.
